Macaroni Salad

So tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday and I am expecting about 10-15 people. Since I have been battling a cold this entire week I decided to have a pot luck snack fest. Not normally I would be cooking a feast where everyone would come only bringing themselves and they would usually leave with a bottle of soda and a large Tupperware full of leftovers.
In our house we don't drink soda, parties and celebrations are the exception. Anyway I decided that I simply couldn't do what I wanted to do so my motto usually is if you can't do it right don't do it at all.

So for my portion of the potluck tomorrow I am making some salads and my great tasting fried chicken. Here is the Macaroni Salad recipe that makes my family simply swoon.

Whatcha Need
1 pound of elbow macaroni
1/2 small red onion, chopped really small
1 stalk of celery, chopped really small
1/4 cup of fresh chopped parsley
2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Pinch o Cayenne pepper
1 1/2 cups mayo
pepper

Whatcha Do
1. Bring 4 quarts to a boil in a large pot for the macaroni. Add 1 tablespoon of salt and the macaroni to the boiling water and cook, stirring, until nearly tender, about 5 minutes. Drain in a colander and rinse with cold water until cook, then drain briefly so that the macaroni remains moist. Transfer to a large bowl.

2. Stir in onion, celery, parsley, lemon juice, mustard, garlic powder and cayenne, and let sit until flavors are absorbed. About 2 minutes. Add the mayo and let sit until the salad texture is no longer watery, about 5 to 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve

Octuplet Mom......What the Hell ...... When is enough.... When is it considered a sickness

Mommy of 8 + 6 ranging from Brand new born to 7 years old!
I want to meet the doctor who okay'd allowing this women to have more children with obviously no plan for the aftermath.

So the last few days I have been following the news drama regarding the young mother who gave birth his past Monday to Octuplets. At first I was happy and filled with love for the couple who in my mind may not have been able to have children previously, and were blessed 8 times.
I had my own little story going, until slowly yet surely things kept coming out that tore away at my story. Now many people were quick to bash the poor women when they heard that she lived with her parents in a two bedroom house. NOT ME, I was like well everyone should have the right to have their own children should they choose. Some people have not found the "right" person and if they feel as though they are capable of taking care of a child or twins or maybe even triplets then so be it.

But then it came out that the woman had SIX other kids at home, WHAT THE FUCK! Sorry, that just came out. At what point do the doctors send this damn women for a head evaluation.

I know of couples who would do anything to have a child of their own, but cannot afford it. Yet this women had 6 separate pregnancies all via fertility treatments, how the hell did she afford them.

At what point does quality of life come in, who is supporting these children. When were her parents going to say hey enough is enough if you bring one more child into our house you will have to go.

I know of plenty of teenagers who had children who were told just that. I feel really badly for those children, the newborns and the older children, for I see only a very special man/woman will be able to handle a woman with 14 kids AT ANY AGE.

And I am not saying that she needs a man/woman in her life in order for her to help her raise her children. What I am saying is that she will eventually want companionship some where down the line and who will be crazy enough to get involved with someone like that.

Swagbucks.com

I just finished registering for swagbucks.com after doing some research it seems as though Swagbucks is just as reputable as Mypoints.com.
Yet unlike with Mypoints.com Swagbucks.com doesn't ask you to buy anything or to take any surveys in order to accumulate points. With Swagbuck all they ask is that you use it as a search engine. The results you receive will be directly from Google or from Ask.com.

I personally use Google for everything, and feel that if I can do it for nothing why not use Swagbucks and actually benefit from the search with more than just information how about GIFTS!

So I am having a Girl

The last few days has been filled with tears and screams of joy.... not all coming from me. I have taking to looking at little girls around me oh so differently.
And I have noticed the following...

They whine and screech A LOT
They think they are just too cute for almost everything
They are sassy
They are insistent
They drive their mothers CRAZY
They are MOUTHY

And I have come to the following conclusions.

One of two things will happen

1. She will get her teeth knocked out the first time she gets too big for her britches. That gives her two shots at getting it right, once while she is young and the last chance when her adult teeth come in. If she is a hard study she won't get new teeth until she is old enough to get a good job with benefits and a good Dental Plan.

Or...

2. I give her a few years in public (2-4) depending on her of course. If all doesn't work out well she will become one with the house. People will ask me as I am walking down the street Hey Sasha, didn't you have a daughter after that little one their (pointing to Yum Yum) and I'll reply Yeah sure did! Stop by the house I'll let you peering in to the window!

Super Mom Gives Birth To Octuplets

A might women in Bellflower, CA was given birth to the worlds second set of live-born octuplets!!!
How amazing is that! She apparently gave birth yesterday Jan 26th 2007 to 6 Boys and 2 Girls, they weighted between 1.0 lbs and 3.4 lbs, and according to the report they were only expecting 7.

Now I love to watch the TLC Channel and since I am currently pregnant I have a thing for the baby series. I remember one episode where I woman gave birth to multiples and jokingly asked the doctors during the C-section to please check for one more, lol. Well in this case there was ONE MORE!!!

I can't say how proud and happy I am for the mom and dad. I hope that they have created an awesome support group of family, friends and others. I am sure they will need all the help they can get.

It's Killing Me

Tomorrow is my big Sonogram appointment!!!

I cannot wait I am hoping that I can get some sleep tonight. I really would love to have another boy - but in all truth and honesty I couldn't care less.

I would like a boy because I already have two and I am used to them lol - the idea of how different boys are from girls is what scares me.

I guess it's a double standard that I will have to get over should I be carrying a sweet loving mini me. I worry about scraped knees and busted lips and black eyes on little girls. I was one of those little girls, my legs hold many battle scars from climbing trees, playing street hockey and flag football. I never wanted to be a girl scout and sell cookies I wanted to join the boy scouts with my cousin Bird, he did all the cool things like backpacking and camping, he could get a patch if he learned how to make fire !!! I got a patch if I learned out to sew a patch ???

I guess I turned out fine.... I am sure my little girl will turn out fine???? Ahh we shall see tomorrows appointment is for 5pm. Only time will tell.

Update on Yum Yum's Appointment

Fridays appointment went very well, especially considering it was mostly about his dad and they did not have to take any blood from the baby.

The doctors were amazed to have such a complete history file on hubby 10 years later. They thanks his mother many times. We were told that since Hubby's strokes were arterial and not venous it was less likely to be hereditary which is a great thing for the baby!

We were told they will run tests on Hubby's blood and see what they find. If all tests come out fine and there are no signs of anything hereditary or looming, it may be possible that Hubby's blood is a bit more "sticky" than normal. They took 9 vials of blood from Hubby and we will find out the test results within 10 days.

While taking my family history it came out that DS Sporty and I bruise easily and that DS's nose bleeds that we just chocked up to him having sensitive blood vessels in his nose - might point to us have "loose" blood.

The doctor described it as a scale at one end there are people with "sticky" blood meaning they are more apt to clot faster than "normal" and on the other side there are Hemophiliacs. So that being said there is quite the possibility of DS Yum Yum and the baby that I am carrying might be smack dap in the middle. Meaning having both Hubby's blood (sticky) and my blood (loose), meaning they will be perfectly ok.

Well I'll update that when we get the results.
